build a dew shield

Holding It In Place

Now that the inside is covered we need to add some foam so that the shield has a nice tight fit over the scopes tube assembly. I used a 3" wide piece of this sleeping bad pad purchased at walmart for a few bux. I just used scissors to cut it. I used super glue to attach it with an accelerator. I roughed up the bottom of the foam quite well so it would stick. The super glue doesn't stick to the foam very well so I would recommend using a spray adhesive instead. But i didn't have ny laying around.

I had planed to stretch velcro around also to keep it on but this is a very snug fit and holds on quite well alone.
T he whole structure is pretty light. It is a good idea to add a bit of counter weight to the back to save on your scopes motor. The shield actually acts as a nice counter weight if your using any heavy equipment on the back such as big eye pieces or a camera etc.
