LX-200 parts with your Orion ED-80 (Experience level: Beginner)

Intro

It seems to be one of the most common setups for astrophotography. I'm talking about the good old LX-200 with an Orion ED-80 riding piggy back. This is a great combo which provides great flexibility when viewing or photographing astro objects of various sizes. If your like me you have a bunch of accessories for the LX-200 that you'd like to use on the ED-80. Here are just a few.

  1. Camera T-Adapter
  2. Meade SC Adapter
  3. Borg 57/60 AD [7424] Adapter (holds filter)
  4. IDAS LPS filter
  5. Borg 57 AD [7502] Adapter (holds filter)
  6. Meade CCD Variable T Adapter
  7. Meade 6.3 Focal Reducer
  8. Meade 3.3 Focal Reducer

There is just one problem. The LX-200 parts will not directly fit with the Orion ED-80 parts. A simple modification will allow you to share certain accessories between the two very easily. Anything that fits on the back of your SCT will now fit your orion all for a couple bux and one very easy modification. Best of all you wont have to be threading and unthreading accessories all the time.
